Fire Destroys Vacant Church In Harrison Township

Fire Units from four different departments were on the scene of a structure fire in Harrison Township late last night. The fire was located in the former Reels Chapel Church near the intersection of Noble Road and Strip Pit Road. Harrison Township Fire Chief Chad Hansen says the fire was fully involved by the time they arrived. Units from Vincennes Township, Petersburg and Patoka Fire departments assisted in battling the fire for nearly 3-hours. At this time, Hansen says the cause of the fire is listed as undetermined. He says the utilities to the vacant church had been turned off. The building is owned by the Three Nails Project.
