The city of Bicknell has been granted an extension for the Blight Elimination Program. The new deadline is December 2018. Mayor Thomas Estabrook says the city is still working to acquire properties for the program and was recently assisted by the county commissioners in receiving sale deeds for 8 properties. Estabrook says those properties can be quickly folded into the program and will not require funding for their acquisition.
The Bicknell City Council also unanimously adopted the city’s budget and salary ordinance at their meeting Monday night. The 2018 spending plan includes a four percent pay raise for all full time employees as well as $30,000 for sidewalk improvements on North Main Street. The budget now heads to the Department of Local Government Finance for their review.
