A hearing to establish or deny a new county fund will take place later this week.
On Wednesday, November 8th at 1:30, representatives from the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance will make their way to the Knox County Courthouse. They will be tasked with approving or rejecting the establishment of the CCD Fund, which would see certain dollars from the county’s general fund be reallocated. Knox County was penalized a year ago for not having the fundThat fund limits what the money can be used for, but wouldn’t be generated by any extra taxation on Knox County citizens.
This comes after the County Commissioners voted to establish the fund over the summer. A remonstrance was then filed by concerned citizens against the fund, leaving it’s future in the hands of the DLGF. Without approval, the County Council will be tasked with cutting some $600,000 from their budget.
