The Vincennes Utilities Services Board has agreed to provide a local match in order for the city to obtain state funding for upgrades to Washington Avenue.
The project would include new paving, sidewalks, bicycle lanes and lighting along Washington Avenue from Emison Avenue to Belle Crossing.
USB General Manager Kirk Bouchie says Washington Avenue carries a lot of vehicle and foot track. More importantly the upgrades will also include major re-habbing existing water and sanitary sewer lines n that part of town.
The project is expected to cost around $4 million. The USB would provide a local match of 20% or $800,000 in order to obtain state funding through the Indiana Department of Transportation.
It’s part of INDOT’S call for projects for 2022. Bouchie says the city’s application is due into the state later this month.
