Posted on November 16th, 2017

The name of the passenger who died in a Martin County crash earlier this week has been released. State Police say 35-year-old John Brett of Shoals was the passenger in the 2008 Dodge Avenger that was struck on US 231 near Boggs Lake on Wednesday

Indiana State Police say a car driven by 60-year-old Kevin Sears of Odon was northbound on 231, when for an unknown reason, his car veered into the southbound lane striking another vehicle driven by 29-year-old Zachary Greene of Loogootee.

Sears was pronounced dead at the scene by the Martin County Coroner. Greene and a passenger were both transported to Memorial Hospital in Jasper. Brett was transferred to St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, where he later died from his injuries.  Greene was being treated for injuries to his legs and ankle.

Police say all three occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
