A Cannelburg firefighter has been formally charged with drunken driving in an accident that caused the death of a fellow firefighter.

26-year-old Colby Blake appeared Thursday in Daviess Superior Court for his initial hearing on a charge of operating a motor vehicle causing death.

Indiana State Police say Blake was responding to an accident when he failed to reduce his speed as he approached the crash site and struck several parked vehicles killing 27-year-old Kendall Murphy of Montgomery.

According to the Washington Times Herald, Blake is being held at the Daviess County Jail on $50,000 cash bond only. His attorney, Mark Phillips requested a bail reduction. Judge Dean Sobecki has taken that request under advisement.

The case is currently set for trial on March 20th.
